For months I’ve been complacent with Instagram – using it too little because I hate the non-chronological feed. I hadn’t seen much of a difference in engagement since the algorithm reared it’s ugly and hated head. So I’ve kept plodding along.. business as usual. I know that Mel has voiced her pain recently at the seeming decline of posting content on her blog and regret that she didn’t engage with Instagram in a more serious way earlier. This has gotten me thinking – is she right? Have I been focussing on the wrong place – has the audience moved to Instagram? I know this is a really minor first world problem but when you invest so much time (5 years for me and 3.5 years for Irish) and effort into creating content you love – it’s quite difficult when no one is seeing your content anymore.
So – I’m going to take this as a positive. I have a great bunch of people who regularly read my content on here but I’ve got a whole new bunch of people who I can engage with via instagram. It’s going to mean totally changing my approach to content creation – it’s going to be structured, less ‘formal’ I want to catch more snaps of my day-to-day – hard when I’m at my desk for 80% of it but I want to take it on as a new challenge for the end of 2017 and into 2018. What sort of content do you like too see on Instagram? I like outfit shots that help me choose new bits for my wardrobe, beauty recommendations and personal posts – what do you like?
