One of the things I like about my site re-design is the ‘popular posts’ section at the top it allows me to see what you guys are reading during the day. I was really surprised to see lots of old posts coming through – particularly my January Blues post from last year has been exceptionally popular. I sat down and had a think about how my January and if I’d been taking my own advice. The honest answer? January was sh*t. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way.
Things I haven’t done:
- Eat Better
- Get more hobbies
Things I have done:
- Laugh a lot
- Spend time with friends
- Don’t write resolutions
- Make plans
- Take vitamins
Like I said… January has not been great, it was a mixture of work and life stress and not being able to create lots of content. Because I feel like my ‘January Blues’ have been pushed back a month this year – and I know lots of people around me are feeling the same – so I thought I’d share with you guys exactly what I will be doing to make February a better month.
Declutter: This is a big one for those of you who are city dwellers with restricted space. Clearing out your wardrobe and creating 2 bags, 1 for charity and 1 for the bin will give you a much needed re-set. Get rid of those gross holey pants and tights (we all have at least 1 pair), tops with stains on, tattered pyjamas and clothes that just don’t fit.
Get Organised: Getting my shit together is probably the thing that is keeping me most sane – it’s making me really think about how I use my time and what I’ve got coming up. For me I finally picked up a Bullet Journal from Amazon in an attempt to get my life in order – I can honestly say… I’m obsessed.
Go Away: This is something which is really common in my company – the Jan/Feb holiday to use up last years leftover holiday days and as a pick-me-up after a stressful December. Thankfully Irish got me the best Christmas present which means that I’m off on a plane today for a few days in Verona. I highly reccomend booking a little city trip a the end of Jan or early Feb to put a little pep in your step.
Treat Yo’self: I’m not really one of those people who buys themselves Christmas presents – I save that for January. January sales are a god-send but it’s a good time of year to get something a little more special that you’ve been holding out on like a new perfume, a jazzy piece of tech or a nice new coat.
So if you’re feeling sh*tty don’t feel guilty, don’t feel alone and don’t worry. It’s totally normal and everyone secretly feels the same. I’d love to know what you guys do to make Feb better?
