There’s something so f**king cool about a kimono. I put one on and I feel like Stevie Nicks had a baby with a rainbow unicorn. What’s not to love right? Well… if you’re under 6ft tall you might be struggling with the highstreet kimonos at the moment because they are LONG. I’ve been eyeing up the gorgeous green Zara ones but they are just too long.

Kimonos – the best trend for SS17

I’ve been a kimono wearer for years – they are great to throw on, they can hide a multitude of sins and they always, always go with black. I was in the online labyrinth known as ASOS – too much choice – I decided to have a look at what Y.A.S had because my favourite top is from them. As I scrolled our eye’s met across the screen – me and this beautiful kimono.

For someone who wears a lot of black adding a colourful kimono seemed like a bit of a no-brainer. I was worried that I’d look like a crazy person in a dressing gown but I think the length and material means that it’s not too girly or dressing-gowny. Every time I’ve worn this over the past 10 days (which is probably too many times) I’ve had compliments from colleagues, friends and complete strangers. I went for a size medium so that it was a nice loose fit.

I’ve rounded up my favourite kimono’s online at the moment – I’m sorely tempted to add a few more to my collection
